Joyce was exhibited twice at the prestigious annual Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, in 1952 and 1983.
There is some evidence she was exhibited a third time, in 1959 – see below.
1952
Linton Brook Farm, near Bromyard, on the Worcestershire / Herefordshire border‘Varnishing Day’ has been an integral part of the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition since its inception more than 250 years ago. Named after the protective varnish that was traditionally used to finish paintings, the day sees Royal Academicians celebrate the start of the Summer Exhibition and put the finishing touches to their works.

A watercolour of petunias, which on the reverse……Has a label, in the top right at an angle, saying “Royal Academy Exhibition 1959”. The label bears the name of a London-based framers that Joyce used, James Bourlet & Sons. There’s currently no further evidence of this work being exhibited at the RA’s 1959 summer exhibition but we will update this page if information emerges.
